Local Scoutmaster, Mike Matzinger

Receives the Silver Antelope Award

Greensboro, NC | March 6, 2025,

Michael Matzinger, Scoutmaster of Troop 600 for boys, Scoutmaster of Troop 219 for girls, and Skipper of Ship 3 will receive the Silver Antelope Award at Scouting America’s national annual meeting in May.

Scouting America uses the Silver Antelope to recognize those adult volunteers who provide exceptional service at the territory level. For Council Service Territory 15, Mike provides leadership in marketing, recruitment, and alumni relations. He serves on the national Wood Badge staff. Mike serves on the national commissioner service team. He is a long-time advocate for Scouts with special needs.

Mike joins an esteemed group of volunteers from the Old North State Council. Mike is the twenty-first Scouter from Old North State to receive the Silver Antelope.
