Old North State CounciL

The Unit of Excellence Award recognizes units that deliver high-impact Scouting experiences and actively strengthen the movement across the Old North State Council.

These units set the standard—executing strong programs, creating meaningful outdoor adventure, and ensuring youth engagement, retention, and growth.

Units of Excellence demonstrate:
• Program excellence that keeps youth engaged
• Intentional growth through recruitment and retention
• Active community visibility and outreach
• Support of council initiatives and financial sustainability

Recognition reflects alignment with council priorities and a commitment to delivering Scouting at the highest level.

• Unit of Excellence recognition breakfast at August Membership Kickoff
• Unit of Excellence recognition at Council Recognition Banquet

Qualification Requirements

• Submit completed application by June 30
• Maintain 100% trained leadership (SYT, Hazardous Weather)
• Minimum of Unit Key 2 is Position-Specific trained
• Ensure at least one leader completes BALOO for packs
• Earn the total points as listed on the form, including the items marked as mandatory

Applications are reviewed in July. Only verified submissions meeting all requirements will be recognized. Applications measure performance from August 1 – May 31.
